Team voice chat is coming to League of Legends » Esports | Esports.gg
League of Legends may finally get voice chat for entire teams, not just ready-made lobbies. Here’s what we know.
The most requested feature is finally coming to League of Legends: team voice communications. Here’s what we know and when we might get the long-awaited chance to praise our LoL teammates via voice chat.
Team voice chat in League of Legends coming soon
Voice chat will finally become a reality in League of Legends. Yes, League Voice already exists, but this new feature improves it so that now you can talk to your entire team, not just pre-made lobbies.
But don’t worry, these are all options. You have to enable it in settings, under the Sound tab. Below is a screenshot taken from the Public Beta Environment

If this isn’t enough evidence for you, data miners also found signs that this was a fully developed system, not an accidental update.
The image below shows the “parties_comm_panel” component that can be switched between two tabs: PARTYING And TEAM. The entire window also has VOICE header, making this more likely to be in-game voice chat.

So League Voice isn’t going anywhere, but the entire panel will be swapped out to accommodate talking to your team.

Another relevant line of code involves settings, where players should be able to set PTT (Push-To-Talk) locks. You’ll be able to have two separate keybinds: one for Party and one for Team, if you want.

Finally, another category in the report screen has been added: MISUSE OF VOICE COMMUNICATIONS. The description reads “Bullying, harassment, threats, hate speech in the voice of the team.” With Riot’s recent improvements in punishing destructive behavior in the game, perhaps they finally feel confident enough to introduce this feature to global servers.
Voice communication in LoL: What to expect
Voice communication and voice chat have been present in League of Legends since 2024. However, this is only for Chinese servers.

According to the post, players can mute their own voices and adjust the volume of each teammate individually. Even if you are muted, you can still see who is talking. The interface is where League Voice is now, and you can hide the panel by clicking the headset button.
When will voice chat go live in LoL?
We can get voice communications in League of Legends as early as Patch 26.5, which is scheduled for March 4, 2026. However, for major system updates and additions like the WASD control scheme, sometimes these new features remain in the PBE for more than one update cycle.
If you really want to give it a try, you can log in to the PBE server and provide valuable feedback to the development team. Otherwise, just wait for delivery to the live server.
